As a child I always felt for Katy Carr, planning the meals for the week* and saying "I wish God would invent another animal." Particularly in my days of 101 variations on student pasta.

In adult life I tend to wish for another day of the weekend. By the time I have done some (seldom all) of the things that must be done, and at present spending quite a bit of time doing very little on the sofa, the To Do list retains rather large quantities of things that are not crossed off. Ruthless prioritisation clearly not quite sufficiently ruthless. But I did write some fic in the typing-a-proper-version-on-the-computer sense and Xiao Jingyan has thus achieved one of this 5+1, which was very satisfying, albeit knocked me out for the rest of the day. Even if it were then a good thing that this afternoon my father was unable to suppress the urge to check that his daughters had sorted out their mother's birthday present/card, even though he was in an email exchange when this was all agreed on Friday, because I had in fact entirely forgotten that despite finally getting round to sorting out something to take the Post Office tomorrow that I've been meaning to do for a fortnight or more. Card is now stamped and by the door, present purchased.

Anyway, the day of an artificially augmented brain that ensures I remember and get everything done with maximising of time available, and cuts me off 10 seconds before I'm about to go into an energy crash, can't come soon enough. Though it the universe is going to sort things out for me, climate change and the current Prime Minister are probably higher priorities.

Have decided to give up on Call My Agent for the moment. It is wonderful, but I simply enjoy it more when watched with other people.

*Which one can't even be annoyed at not simply leaving to the kind and competent Debbie the cook, since clearly it was beneficial in giving her an opportunity to engage more with the household beyond her position as invalid.

Having taken Fridays off all through the summer I have completely failed to get back into the swing of working five days a week. I think weekends should be three days as standard.

My work are quite keen for Fridays to be one of my WFH days, and I find it incredibly hard not to view this as basically the weekend starting early.

Climate change and the current prime minister are basically two sides of the same coin. The little list of politicians-enabling-climate-change who would absolutely not be missed overlaps almost completely with corrupt nationalistic autocrats and wannabe autocrats.

A 4-day working week would be a kick in the teeth for advanced capitalism and hence of great benefit both to the planet and to the sum total of human happiness.

Or Miss Murchison complaining that God failed to make joints suitable for single people!
