LOTS of reindeer*, migrating from winter to summer pastures on NRK's latest snow TV. After a slow start when they weren't very interested in moving, they are finally on the march, though even this involves a lot of time standing around eating. Reindeer moss cannot be very nutritious, even for reindeer. Technically these are semi-domesticated reindeer, and the ones belonging to the Sara family. Mostly the soundtrack is reindeer walking or eating, or snowscooters, but occasionally there is Sami pop music.

ETA: Department of you couldn't make it up: Tate Gallery asks staff to contribute to leaving present for the Director. Of a boat. The weak after stopping the staff canteen discount. Was it meant to be performance art?

I watched, they were moving :) Maybe because there was a dog happily running at them (shots of dog seemed to be coming from a camera on a snowmobile). I'm also watching two fat wild turkeys rooting around under our birdfeeder. Not even the dog next door (behind a fence) scared them away.

People get boats as retirement gifts in the UK???

Not normally, no! Especially when they work for a museum, average museum pay being peanuts. It is truly bizarre, I'm not surprised some of the story thought it was a spoof at first, whoever came up with it must be on another planet.

Wild turkeys strike me as the sort of bird that would need a rather committed dog to scare them away.

Apparently my brain is fried at the end of the semester, because my first thought was, "Why is it wrong to ask staff to contribute to a present for the director of a boat?" and my second thought was, "Huh, I wonder why the Tate Gallery even has a boat, do they have floating exhibitions on the Thames?"

They definitely should have floating exhibitions on the Thames, though perhaps only of works that don't mind the humidity.
